Schools joining a system
Section 43 of the Education Act 1990 provides for new schools to be included in a system of non-government schools. The approved authority for a registration system must notify the Minister in writing that a proprietor of a registered non-government school or a person who proposes to establish a new non-government school wishes to become a member of the system. The school becomes a member of that system on the giving of such notice. Unless an application is made to register the school (whether or not the school is already registered under the Act) within six (6) months of it becoming a member of the system, under Section 52 of the Act, the school ceases to be such a member.
Under Section 52 of the Act, the maximum initial period of registration that schools applying to become members of a system of non-government schools can be granted is twelve (12) months.
