Recognition of Schools Outside NSW

The NSW Education Standards Authority (‘NESA’) is responsible for providing advice and making recommendations about the recognition of schools outside NSW.

A recognised school from outside NSW may enter candidates for the award of a Record of School Achievement and/or Higher School Certificate.

The requirements for recognition are detailed in the Manual for the recognition of schools outside NSW to present students for the NSW Record of School Achievement and/or Higher School Certificate.

The Manual includes information about submitting an expression of interest, the process for submitting an application for recognition, and relevant forms to be submitted to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for assessment and approval.

This Manual should be read in conjunction with the Education Act 1990 and, as applicable, NESA’s syllabuses, Assessment Certification Examination (ACE) website and Official Notices.

Applications

Schools outside NSW seeking recognition for the first time should complete and email the Expression of Interest (EOI) with supporting evidence to schoolrego@nesa.nsw.edu.au.

Schools outside NSW with current recognition seeking renewal should complete the application form in RANGS Online.
